Michael Jordan had a blunt message for former Patriots wide receiver Julian Edelman before New England's Super Bowl XLIX matchup against the Seattle Seahawks.
On the latest episode of his "Games With Names" podcast, Edelman spoke to comedian Bert Kreischer about running into Jordan and New York Yankees legend Derek Jeter while out for dinner a week before the big game in 2015. Edelman said Jordan came across as a little "standoffish" but did provide a supportive message of sorts.
"As soon as the conversation (with Jeter is) about to end, like five minutes in, I'm about to leave. Jordan comes up to me, and he goes, 'Hey kid, I got a bunch of money on you. Don't f--k it up,'" Edelman said. "And that's the only thing he said to me."
The Patriots went on to defeat the Seahawks 28-24, capturing the franchise's fourth Super Bowl championship and presumably making Jordan an even richer man. Edelman finished the game with nine receptions for 109 yards and a touchdown.
