Report: Lakers not interested in trading Reaves
Austin Reaves seems to be sticking around.
The Los Angeles Lakers have no interest in trading the third-year guard, sources told The Athletic's Jovan Buha.
The franchise would only consider moving Reaves either for a "clear-cut All-Star" or multiple rotation upgrades, Buha reports.
Reaves is averaging 15.1 points, 5.2 assists, and 4.2 rebounds in 42 games this season. The Lakers have been inconsistent this campaign, ranking 10th in the Western Conference with a 21-21 record.
The Lakers will use the next two weeks as an evaluation period before trading anyone, added Buha.
Los Angeles has reportedly shown interest in Atlanta Hawks guard Dejounte Murray, and while talks have stalled, they're expected to pick up again closer to the Feb 8 trade deadline. The two teams put together a framework of Murray for D'Angelo Russell, Jalen Hood-Schifino, a 2029 first-round pick, and additional draft compensation, sources told Buha.
L.A. also has interest in new Toronto Raptors wing Bruce Brown if his team decides to trade him. The Lakers were reportedly interested in signing the versatile defender last season before the Indiana Pacers added him in free agency. Due to his inclusion in the Pascal Siakam trade, Brown can't be combined with another player in a deal.
Other players who've been discussed over the past two weeks include Brown's new teammate Gary Trent Jr., Portland Trail Blazers forward Jerami Grant, Charlotte Hornets guard Terry Rozier, and Brooklyn Nets forwards Dorian Finney-Smith and Royce O'Neale, according to Buha.
The Lakers take on the Nets on Friday.
