Iverson documentary in the works with Shaq, Steph producing
A new documentary will explore NBA great Allen Iverson's life on and off the court.
Prime Video announced on Thursday that it has greenlit a feature-length documentary about the Philadelphia 76ers legend, from his origins as a kid growing up in Hampton, Virginia to his rise in the NBA.
Fellow Hall of Famer Shaquille O'Neal and Golden State Warriors star Stephen Curry will serve as producers on the currently untitled project through their respective companies, Jersey Legends and Unanimous Media.
"I'm ready to tell my story my way, authentic and unapologetically," Iverson said in a statement. "I look forward to people seeing a side of me they haven't seen before."
Added O'Neal: "Allen was a pioneer in the world of sports and entertainment. His cultural impact was bigger than basketball, and this documentary sets out to properly define his legacy."
Iverson was selected No. 1 overall by the 76ers in the 1996 NBA Draft and spent the first 12 seasons of his career in Philadelphia, helping lead the organization to the Finals in 2001. In April, the Sixers will honor him with a sculpture at their training complex.
