X map shows most American states backing Mavs in NBA Finals

The Dallas Mavericks appear to be the more popular team in this year's NBA Finals.

A map that BetOnline.ag created based on geotagged X data gathered since the matchup was set, including over 130,000 tweets containing fan hashtags, shows 29 states across the U.S. are rooting for the Mavs to win the NBA title. The Boston Celtics are favored in 21 states.

This will be the Mavs' third trip to the NBA Finals and their first since 2011, when they captured the franchise's first and only championship. The Celtics last appeared in the NBA Finals in 2022 and lost to the Golden State Warriors in six games.

Game 1 of the series is set for Thursday in Boston.
