Report: Giants' Snell drawing significant trade interest
San Francisco Giants pitcher Blake Snell is drawing significant trade interest, sources told The Athletic's Andrew Baggarly.
Snell, who joined the Giants on a two-year, $62-million contract late in spring training, got off to a rocky start but appears to have recently rediscovered his Cy Young-winning form.
Over his last three starts, the 31-year-old has recorded a 1.00 ERA and 0.61 WHIP while striking out 15 batters.
The biggest obstacle in potential Snell trade talks will likely be his contract, which includes an opt-out clause after this season. He'll earn $30 million in 2025 if he doesn't exercise it.
The Giants sit 5.5 games back of the final NL wild-card spot with a 49-55 record after Thursday's loss to the Los Angeles Dodgers.
MLB's trade deadline is Tuesday at 6 p.m. ET.
