Tottenham bag striker Solanke from Bournemouth for reported £65M
Tottenham Hotspur struck what could turn out to be the most expensive deal of the Premier League's summer transfer window with the signing of Dominic Solanke on Saturday.
The striker cost £55 million up front and £10 million in potential add-ons to pluck from Bournemouth, according to BBC Sport's Simon Stone and Nizaar Kinsella. The deal could eclipse Tottenham's club-record outlay for Tanguy Ndombele.
The fee represents a club-record outgoing transfer for Bournemouth. However, Liverpool are reportedly entitled to 20% of profit from Solanke's switch from the Reds to Bournemouth in 2019, which eventually cost around £19 million.
It's hoped Solanke will be an ideal long-term replacement for Harry Kane, the prolific homegrown striker who left Tottenham for Bayern Munich last summer. Solanke is coming off the best season of his career, scoring 21 goals in 42 appearances for Bournemouth across all competitions.
The 26-year-old scored just 10 goals over four Premier League campaigns with Liverpool and Bournemouth before last season's 19-goal return. He started his career at Chelsea but only made one substitute appearance in the Champions League for the Blues.
Solanke signed a contract until 2030 with Tottenham.
