Dodgers' Glasnow unlikely to return this season with sprained elbow

Los Angeles Dodgers right-hander Tyler Glasnow is "highly unlikely" to return this season due to a sprained elbow, manager Dave Roberts announced Saturday, per ESPN's Alden Gonzalez.

Glasnow has been sidelined since the middle of August with an elbow injury.

The 31-year-old was scheduled to throw a simulated game Friday but felt discomfort in his elbow while warming up.

"It's a big blow," Roberts said, per Bill Plunkett of the Orange County Register. "Looking at what he meant for our ballclub, what he's done for us, what we expected him to do, certainly there's going to be a cost. But we have to move on, and we will, and we have capable people."

The Dodgers' rotation has been decimated by injuries all season, with Glasnow, Clayton Kershaw, and Gavin Stone currently on the injured list.

Glasnow reached a career high of 134 innings pitched this season. His previous high was 120 in 2023, as he's dealt with injuries throughout his career.

The Dodgers acquired Glasnow from the Tampa Bay Rays in the offseason, quickly signing him to a five-year, $136.5-million contract extension.

He posted a 9-6 record with a 3.49 ERA and 168 strikeouts in 22 starts for the Dodgers in 2024.
