Broberg helped off ice with apparent leg injury after collision with Marner
St. Louis Blues defenseman Philip Broberg needed help off the ice after colliding with Toronto Maple Leafs forward Mitch Marner during the second period of Saturday's contest.
Broberg clutched his right leg before medical staff tended to him. St. Louis ruled him out for the remainder of the game a few minutes later.
Blues head coach Drew Bannister didn't have an update postgame on Broberg. With St. Louis recently losing forward Robert Thomas for six weeks due to a broken ankle, Bannister said he believes his group can survive an early wave of injuries to key players.
"We've had a lot of injuries, and that's part of the game," he said, per The Athletic's Jeremy Rutherford. "Every team goes through it, and we seem to be going through a few. They just seem to be coming all at once right now. We're being tested and that's fine.
"We have a resilient bunch in there and we're going to push through it, regardless if it is one day, two weeks, two months. We're going to find ways to push through it."
Broberg entered Saturday with nine points in 11 games while averaging over 20 minutes per contest in his first season with the Blues. St. Louis acquired him from the Edmonton Oilers over the summer via an offer sheet.
The Blues have used the 23-year-old primarily on the second pairing.
