Jason Garrett kept turkey leg from 1994 Thanksgiving Game for 15 years
Former Cowboys quarterback Jason Garrett had a Thanksgiving to remember in 1994, leading Dallas to a 42-31 comeback win over the Green Bay Packers with starter Troy Aikman and backup Rodney Peete both sidelined.
The performance was so special to Garrett that he hung onto the turkey leg he received after the contest for over a decade, as he revealed during Thursday's NBC broadcast of the Packers-Miami Dolphins game.
"You know something? I had it in the freezer, it was in tin foil. I probably had it for 15 years, and then we finally moved," Garrett, now a color commentator for NBC, told play-by-play announcer Mike Tirico. "I called my wife the other day, I said, 'Do we still have the turkey leg?' She said, 'No, it's long gone.'"
Garrett completed 15 of 26 passes for 311 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception in the win, while Packers quarterback Brett Favre was 27-for-40 with 257 yards and four touchdowns.
Garrett played for the Cowboys from 1993-99 and served as the team's head coach from 2010-19, compiling an 85-67 record.
