Deion: Shedeur's 'dream is to be drafted higher than I was'
Deion and Shedeur Sanders both hope to see the Colorado quarterback come off the board early in the 2025 NFL Draft.
At Thursday night's NFL Honors ceremony in New Orleans, Deion revealed that his son is aiming to be drafted higher than he was in 1989 at No. 5 overall. The College Football and Pro Football Hall of Famer is confident it will happen.
"We didn't aim to be the first pick, we just aimed to be the first round. High in the first round. And we're gonna achieve that," the elder Sanders told Fox Sports correspondent Jameis Winston. "And his goal and his dream is to be drafted higher than I was, and I feel as though we're gonna achieve that as well."
Shedeur is coming off a strong 2024 season in which he completed 74% of his passes for 4,134 yards, 37 touchdowns, and 10 interceptions en route to winning Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year.
The 23-year-old is widely projected to be a top-10 selection in April's draft.
