Report: Bruins unhappy with how USA handled McAvoy's injury

The Boston Bruins are upset with Team USA's handling of Charlie McAvoy's shoulder injury at the 4 Nations Face-Off, reports Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman.

McAvoy got hurt in the Americans' opener against Finland, but he played in their second game against Canada. He was then hospitalized to undergo a procedure to clean out an infection in his shoulder, and the Bruins announced Thursday their star defenseman is dealing with a significant injury to his AC joint.

According to Friedman, Boston felt that "in this particular case, McAvoy didn't get the proper care."

Daily Faceoff reported McAvoy is week-to-week in his recovery, but the Bruins didn't offer an official timeline.

McAvoy has registered 23 points in 50 games for Boston this season and leads the club in ice time, averaging 23:40 per contest. The Bruins will return from the 4 Nations break one point back of a wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference.
