Seahawks release Lockett after 10 seasons
The Seattle Seahawks released Tyler Lockett, the veteran wide receiver announced Wednesday.
Lockett tweeted:
I really enjoyed being in Seattle! I met so many great people and captured so many great memories! The 12's really make this place meaningful! Although, my time on the Seahawks may have run its course I'm thankful for everything!!God gets all the glory forever!!!!
Releasing Lockett gives Seattle $17 million in salary cap relief for this season, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo. Lockett was projected to have an $18.8-million cap hit in 2025, according to Over the Cap.
Lockett, 32, spent 10 seasons with the Seahawks after they selected him in the third round of the 2015 draft out of Kansas State. He's missed three regular-season games during his NFL career.
He posted four consecutive 1,000-plus-yard receiving seasons from 2019-22. He has 8,594 receiving yards and 61 touchdowns in 161 career games.
