The Pittsburgh Penguins traded defenseman Vincent Desharnais to the San Jose Sharks for a fifth-round pick in 2028, the club announced Wednesday.
Pittsburgh acquired Desharnais from the Vancouver Canucks last month as part of the return for blue-liner Marcus Pettersson. Desharnais signed a two-year, $4-million deal with Vancouver over the offseason.
The 28-year-old spent the previous two seasons with the Edmonton Oilers. He set career highs in games played (78), points (11), and average ice time (15:44) last season but only has three points in 44 appearances in 2024-25.
The 6-foot-7 rearguard is most known for his physicality and should be in the mix for a depth spot on the Sharks' blue line.
