Carmelo Anthony has noticed an extra pep in the step of former teammate and longtime friend LeBron James since the Los Angeles Lakers acquired Luka Doncic.

"I've never seen (James) as happy as he looks playing the game right now," Anthony said on Thursday's episode of his "7PM in Brooklyn" podcast. "He's off the ball, he's sprinting corners, he's shooting corner threes."

Anthony, who spent the 2021-22 season with the Lakers, explained how Doncic is "willing to make this work," unlike others James has played with in the past.

"A lot of teams that Bron had wasn't willing to make this shit work," Anthony said. "We wasn't willing to make this shit work when I was with the Lakers, you get what I'm saying? Luka got the ball now, and this is the first time that we see Bron deferring to somebody with the ball. And he feels very comfortable with Luka being in control of that."

The Lakers are riding an eight-game winning streak and are 12-2 overall since Doncic arrived in L.A. in early February. The team sits second in the Western Conference at 40-21.

James is averaging 25.1 points, 8.5 assists, and 8.1 rebounds through 57 games.
