Prates KOs Neal with spinning back elbow at UFC 319
Carlos Prates delivered a Knockout of the Year candidate at UFC 319.
The welterweight contender brutally finished off Geoff Neal with a spinning back elbow to beat the buzzer at the 4:59 mark of the first round Saturday night in Chicago.
It's the ninth spinning-back-elbow knockout in UFC history, according to the broadcast.
Prates bounced back from the first loss of his UFC career, a unanimous decision defeat to Ian Machado Garry at UFC Kansas City in April. The 32-year-old Brazilian is now 5-1 in the promotion, with all of his wins coming by knockout.
In his postfight interview, Prates said he wants to face former welterweight champion Leon Edwards next.
Neal returned to the Octagon for the first time since UFC 308 last October when he defeated former lightweight champ Rafael dos Anjos. The 34-year-old is 1-3 in his last four outings.
