Report: Senators offered Pinto 8-year contract
The Ottawa Senators recently presented an eight-year contract extension to forward Shane Pinto, Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman reports.
A deal isn't imminent, Friedman notes, and it's unclear how much money the Senators offered. Pinto currently makes $3.75 million per season and is a restricted free agent after this season.
The 24-year-old isn't eligible for unrestricted free agency until 2028.
Pinto registered a career-high 21 goals and 37 points last season. He added a goal and an assist in Ottawa's first-round playoff series against the Toronto Maple Leafs.
The New York native is off to a blazing start this season, currently leading the NHL with seven goals in six contests.
Ottawa selected Pinto in the second round of the 2019 draft. He debuted in the 2020-21 season.
