Ludvig Aberg: Fades after strong opening round
Aberg posted a 13-under cumulative score at the RBC Heritage to finish tied with Harris English and Collin Morikawa for fourth.
Analysis:
Aberg was the early frontrunner after posting a bogey-free, eight-under 63 score in the opening round at Harbour Town, which included five birdies on the back nine. However, he could not maintain that momentum over the next three rounds, though his hard work Thursday was enough for the Swede to finish in the top-5 for the fourth time in his last five tournaments. Aberg's 21 birdies were tied for the most in the field, and he also ranked third in driving distance, eighth in both GIR and SG: Approach, T9 in scrambling and 11th in SG: Putting. However, he was one of the most innaccurate drivers off the tee and finished 50th in SG: Off-the-Tee. Aberg won't participate in the Zurich Classic next week but will likely be in the field for the Cadillac Championship in two weeks.
