Fowler posted a 70-73 scorecard at the Charles Schwab Challenge to miss the cut by five strokes.
Analysis:
After an even-par opening round, it looked like Fowler would make it to the weekend after a four-under front nine in the second round. However, he fell apart completely over the final nine holes, carding five bogeys before his tournament was mercilessly ended by a double bogey on the par-4 ninth. Fowler's iron play was his downfall in the second round, as he lost 3.56 strokes in his approach play while connecting on only eight of 18 greens in regulation. It was a disappointing outing for Fowler, who was looking to bounce back from his T60 performance at the PGA Championship two weeks ago. He'll look to get back on track next week at the Memorial Tournament, where he's finished T9-MC-T7 over his last three outings since 2023.
