Heinen signed a one-year, two-way contract with the Blue Jackets on Wednesday.
Analysis:Heinen made 46 regular-season appearances between Pittsburgh and Columbus last year, recording six goals, six assists, 54 hits, 24 blocked shots and 16 PIM while averaging 11:20 of ice time. He'll remain with the Blue Jackets for another year and should have a chance to compete for a spot on the NHL roster while on his two-way contract.
