Shepard signed a one-year contract with KHL club AK Barys on Thursday, AHL Insider Tony Androckitis reports.
Analysis:Shepard played in just one regular-season game with the Senators last year in which he gave up two goals on 12 shots in a loss to the Red Wings. With the move, the 30-year-old backstop has likely closed the door on his NHL career, which includes six NHL outings for the Capitals and Senators.
