The San Jose Sharks and Winnipeg Jets reportedly engaged in discussions about the possibility of Jets forward Devin Setoguchi returning to the Sharks, whom he played for when he first broke into the league.

Setoguchi is 27-years-old, managed 26 points in 61 games while playing third-line minutes for the Jets this season. He's a pending unrestricted free-agent with a $3 million dollar cap-hit.

Re-acquiring Setoguchi - who the Sharks originally dealt to the Wild in the Brent Burns trade several years back - would require the Sharks to shed some salary.

From CSN's Kevin Kurz:

"In order for the Sharks to fit Setoguchi in under the salary cap, they would have to move salary out elsewhere. According to the numbers on CapGeek.com, San Jose has just $1.697 million of room under the cap. Acquiring Setoguchi would put them approximately $1.3 million over the $64.3 million threshold."

Kurz suggests that the Sharks might look to move forward Martin Havlat in a retained salary transaction in order to create space for a reunion with Setoguchi...
