The Kansas City Chiefs added a four-year collegiate starter in quarterback Aaron Murray from Georgia, selecting him 163rd overall Saturday.

With Alex Smith's contract negotiations reportedly not going well, grabbing Murray gives the Chiefs some leverage and insurance going forward.

Murray gained big game experience in the SEC, which is arguably the best conference in the nation. Despite being somewhat undersized for a pivot at 6-foot-1, Murray got the most out of his physical skills, as he is the conference's all-time leader in passing yardage and touchdown passes.

Murray is coming off a torn ACL in his senior season, so the Chiefs will have him play behind Smith in 2014. He would figure to have the leadership skills Kansas City is looking for and should be the quarterback of the future.
