Overview:

Thatcher Demko back-stopped Boston College to an appearance in the Frozen Four last season, recording 16 wins while posting a 2.24 GAA and a .919 save percentage in 24 games as a freshman.

The 6-foot-4 California native uses his size and butterfly style to effectively cut off angles while giving shooters very little to look at. He also possesses good lateral movement, and is excellent at reading the play as it develops in front of him.

Demko represented the United States at the Under-18 World Championships in 2013, starting all seven games as the Americans captured the silver medal.

“He has that NHL pro-type potential. I can see him three or four years down the road becoming a monster in the net, and for any franchise in need of a future top goalie that’s what you want," NHL Central Scouting's Al Jensen said of Thatcher. "He’s big, aggressive and confident, and has remained strong and focused most of the year.”

"With his long legs and good athleticism, Demko does a great job of taking away the lower portion of the net," USA TODAY Sports/Red Line Reports' Kyle Woodlief said. "He remains squared up to shooters, even when sliding on his knees around the crease, and shows impressive poise and maturity. The big Californian does play too deep in his net and has a tendency to kick out too many rebounds. Plus, we'd like to see him be a bit quieter in his movements. But he's likely to be the first netminder off the board next week."
