Jimmy Butler, Steph Curry named NBA Players of the Month for November
The NBA's Player of the Month awards for the season's opening month have gone to a pair of red-hot guards, the league announced Wednesday.
Steph Curry is the Western Conference recipient of the award, the third time in his career he's received the honor. The sharpshooting point guard led the Golden State Warriors to a league-best 14-2 record in November, averaging 23.8 points, 5.3 rebounds, 7.8 assists and 1.9 steals, all while shooting .496/.418/.923 from the floor.
So far this season, the now 15-2 Warriors have outscored opponents by 20.8 points per 100 possessions when Curry is on the floor, making him one of the league's early MVP candidates.
Joining Curry with the Eastern Conference honor is first-time winner Jimmy Butler. The Chicago Bulls' shooting guard has been the season's early breakout star, impressing with his trademark all-world defense while flashing marked improvement on the offensive end.
As the Bulls navigated multiple injuries to key players, Butler helped keep them afloat at 11-6 thanks to 21.9 points, 5.7 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 1.5 steals a night. The Bulls have been 5.9 points per 100 possessions better with him on the floor as a result.
