Wisconsin's Melvin Gordon to declare for NFL Draft

Reese Strickland / USA TODAY Sports

Wisconsin running back Melvin Gordon has elected to go pro, stating on the Dan Patrick Show he intends to declare for the NFL Draft.

Gordon will play his last game as a Badger at the Outback Bowl versus Auburn on Jan. 1.

The decision isn't much of a surprise, as the junior has been easily the most prolific running back this year in college football. He's amassed 2,336 rushing yards and 26 touchdowns on 309 carries this season. He's also been responsible for three TD catches on 17 receptions.

In his career, he's totaled 4,664 yards and 42 rushing touchdowns on 597 touches.

Given the slim class of running backs, Gordon will compete with Georgia back Todd Gurley to be the first to come off the board in the draft.
