Tragedy struck in Tijuana, Mexico as wrestler Pedro Aguayo Ramirez died in the ring after suffering a fatal blow during a match Saturday.

Ramirez was knocked unconscious onto the ropes after being kicked by former WWE star Rey Mysterio Jr., who now operates under his given name Oscar Gutierrez.

The match went on for almost two minutes before the referee and other participants realized that Ramirez may be gravely injured.

Ramirez - who goes by the moniker Hijo del Perro Aguayo - was taken to a nearby hospital and died at 1:30 a.m local time.

"The reaction for medical attention was quick, in my opinion," Tijuana Boxing and Wrestling Commission president Juan Carlos Pelayo said via ESPN

Ramirez died at the age of 35, after wrestling for over 20 years. The Baja California state prosecutor's office have opened an investigation to determine whether manslaughter charges ought to be applied.

A graphic video of Ramirez lying unconscious circulated Saturday, and the extremely-NSFW clip can be viewed at Deadspin
