Striking a deal with the Washington Redskins in the third round of the 2015 NFL Draft, the Seattle Seahawks traded up to 69th overall to select wide receiver Tyler Lockett out of Kansas State.

In addition to their third-round selection (95th overall), the Seahawks sent their fourth-round pick (112th overall), fifth-round pick (167th overall) and sixth-round pick (181st overall) to the Redskins to complete the deal.

A strong route-runner that wins with quickness in and out of his breaks, Lockett could emerge as a key addition to an increasingly dynamic Seahawks passing game early in his career.

Strengths

  • Gets in and out of his breaks quickly and changes direction sharply to get open in tight spaces.
  • Uses double moves well to create big plays and knows how to make subtle adjustments to his routes to get open.
  • Good kick returner. Ran back four for touchdowns at Kansas State.
  • Wasn't relegated to a slot receiver because of his size. Was able to play out wide and produce.

Weaknesses

  • His small frame may be an issue in the NFL. Opposing teams could slow him down by using press coverage.
  • Average pass catcher in traffic. Can be vulnerable to drops if he hears footsteps from a defender.
  • Struggles to elevate and pull the ball down from its highest point.
  • Not an ideal option in the red zone. Won't win a ton of 50/50 balls in the air.
