Fans will have to pay admission for Mayweather vs. Pacquiao weigh-ins

A message to anyone looking to see Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao step on a scale in their underwear: bring a wallet.

For quite possibly the first time in Nevada history, fans will have to pay admission to attend the pre-fight weigh-ins, though an exact dollar amount is unknown at this time.

Historically, boxing weigh-ins have been free to the public. They're an inexpensive way for the common fan to get a glimpse at the best pugilists on the planet before they square off in front of people who shelled out obscene amounts of cash for the privilege to watch them fight.

According to the chairman of the Nevada Athletic Commission, Francisco Aguilar, the admission fee is more about crowd control than it is about milking every last dime out of "The Fight of the Century."

"We want to make it as safe as possible for the fighters and for everyone who attends," Aguilar told Yahoo Sports' Kevin Iole. "And if fans know they need a ticket to get in, it might prevent people lining up way earlier or any disagreements as people attempt to get into the arena."
