Former Barcelona winger Pedro revealed that club captain Andres Iniesta was instrumental in his move to Chelsea.

Pedro, 28, made the switch to Stamford Bridge this summer and says Iniesta was his confidante and his advocate when it came time to make a decision about his future with the Blaugrana.

"The player I spoke with most was first-team captain Iniesta," Pedro told Marca. "He understood my situation. I told my closest teammates, like Andres, Jordi Alba or (Sergio) Busquets, what I was thinking. They understood my position."

Pedro added: "I think the most important (conversation) was one I had with Andres when it looked as though I wasn't leaving. I explained my situation, which was complicated and called for patience. He understood and did his best to tell the club that, if I wasn't happy, it should do everything in its power to help me leave.

"He behaved like the great captain and teammate he is. That touched me."

Pedro's situation was one mired in rumours and reports, initially linking him with a move to Manchester United, before Jose Mourinho's Chelsea side hijacked the deal.

At Chelsea, the Spanish international linked up with another former Barcelona player in Cesc Fabregas, who fled the once-infamous Barca team last summer. Another departed Barcelona star, Xavi Hernandez, also offered Pedro encouragement for the move, with the Chelsea newcomer saying his former captain called to congratulate him after the deal went through.
