Ortiz ties record for most 100-RBI seasons in Red Sox history
David Ortiz is continuing to establish himself as one of the greatest power hitters in Boston Red Sox history.
Ortiz reached the 100-RBI plateau for the ninth time as a Red Sox after belting a two-run shot Thursday against the Tampa Bay Rays, tying the mark held by Ted Williams.

"When you start to throw Ted Williams' name around and you're drawing comparisons, that's impressive," Red Sox interim manager Torey Lovullo told reporters.

Ortiz's 36th homer of the season gave him 101 RBIs on the campaign to also shatter another club record:
This is David Ortiz's 6th career 35-HR/100-RBI season, passing Jimmie Foxx and Manny Ramirez (5 each) for the most in team history.
