Jurgen Klopp criticizes FA for treating Liverpool youngster 'like a horse'
An injury to Liverpool starlet Jordan Rossiter has rubbed new manager Jurgen Klopp the wrong way, as the German boss lashed out at the Football Association for its mistreatment of the 18-year-old.
Klopp is now seeking a meeting with the English governing body for an explanation as to why Rossiter was handled "like a horse" after he returned to Merseyside with a hamstring injury while on international duty.
"Rossiter is a special story, I would say," said Klopp. "I have never heard that a player that young plays three games in five days.
"That was the problem why he got injured. Now he is injured and we have to wait for him. I don't think he is ready to play until after the next international break.
The former Borussia Dortmund boss admitted he isn't sure who to speak with, but was adamant that he wanted an answer.
"I don't know who I have to speak to about this, but I will find a way of talking to someone. It is not OK. Three matches and five days is the reason why he is now injured.
Klopp didn't provide a timetable for a return for Rossiter, whom was selected for matches against Macedonia, Finland, and Italy while playing with the England Under-19 team.
He then explained his unique theory about overworking youngsters like Rossiter:
"I don't know what minute, maybe he played through and then he came back. It was not on the flight, it was not on the train, it was not in the car it was in the match and because of the match. These young players are our future, if we handle them like horses then we get horses," he said.
"We want that they improve and that they get better. We want them to have time and not feel too much pressure. They don’t have to play three games in five days. That is all I want to say. It is interesting that I have to say this again. Is it normal in England that you have to play three games in five days?"
