Here are theScore's goaltender value rankings for Friday, October 23:
| # | Name | Opponent | Risk |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | Jaroslav Halak (NYI) | vs. BOS | Low |
| 2 | Jimmy Howard (DET) | at CGY | Low |
| 3 | Ben Bishop (TB) | at WPG | Low |
| 4 | Jonathan Quick (LA) | vs. CAR | Low |
| 5 | Cam Ward (CAR) | at LA | Medium |
With Montreal Canadiens goalie Carey Price sitting this one out, Islanders netminder Halak faces the best opportunity to put up points against an offensively-challenged Bruins offense. Bishop, Quick and Ward will face plenty of shots, giving them additional value in the saves department.
| # | Name | Opponent | Risk |
|---|---|---|---|
| 6 | Ondrej Pavelec (WPG) | vs. TB | Medium |
| 7 | Philipp Grubauer (WAS) | at EDM | Medium |
| 8 | Mike Condon (MON) | at BUF | Medium |
| 9 | Jonas Gustavsson (BOS) | at NYI | High |
| 10 | Anders Nilsson (EDM) | vs. WAS | High |
| 11 | Chad Johnson (BUF) | at TB | High |
| 12 | Jonas Hiller (CGY) | vs. DET | High |
Cam Talbot was in position for a 25+ save night until Nilsson was named starter in his stead. That doesn't bode as well for Edmonton. While Pavelec presents more of a liability facing the high-scoring Lightning, the backups of the night should give you an average amount of fantasy points. Hiller has the potential to be pulled each game he starts, a good reason to be bearish on the veteran netminder.
