DFS: Don't Believe the Hype - Week 9 Edition
Week 8 featured several monster days in DFS. A few players put up numbers that would have raised eyebrows in a Madden box score. There's no surprise, then, that a couple players from Week 8's slugfest between the Giants and Saints should show up on Week 9's list.

QB Drew Brees, Saints (vs. Titans)
Seven touchdowns. Seven. In a single game. Brees became the third quarterback since before 1970 - others being Peyton Manning and Nick Foles in 2013 - to accomplish this. He aired the ball out 50 times, completing 39 and throwing two picks. It wasn't a return to form. It obliterated form and branded Brees' name into the record books.
And Week 8 will be his peak. How could it not be? He had thrown eight TDs through six games - he missed Week 3 with an injury - and has been good if disappointing for a player of Brees' stature. He could throw a couple more touchdowns against the Titans in Week 9, but his overall production will be nowhere near as good as in Week 8. Temper expectations going forward.

QB Eli Manning, Giants (at Buccaneers)
One of the reasons Brees threw seven touchdowns was because of Manning almost keeping pace. Had the game gotten out of hand in either direction, a running game would have been used more consistently. Since neither team's secondary decided to show up, it became a firestorm.
While Brees tied the NFL record of TDs in a single game, Manning set his career high with six. It shouldn't matter what defense he's going up against for the rest of the season. The likelihood of Manning matching his career best output is not particularly good. It won't happen. Manning is a steady hand at QB, but he is not as explosive as Week 9 would suggest.

WR Marques Colston, Saints (vs. Titans)
You might see his price and think he's a good play. You would be wrong. It's entirely conceivable that because of his enormous day in Week 9 that his stock will rise considerably. This makes him a risky choice in GPP since more people will be choosing him. It makes him a poor cash game play because he's been a bust all season and has a very low floor.
Colston should be faded throughout DFS no matter how cheap he is. Do not fall into the trap. Remember the season leading up to this. He did not have a TD reception until Week 8. His season high in yards was 69. Week 8 was the anomaly, not the rest of the year.
