DFS: Bargain Plays - Wednesday's Top Sleeper Picks

Here are the top sleeper options for Wednesday, December 2:

G Garret Sparks, Leafs (at Jets)

Sparks provides an extremely cheap option among starting goalies on Wednesday's four-game slate. While Toronto knows Sparks well following a shutout in his NHL debut, many around the league may still be sleeping on this unknown.

Aside from his NHL debut, Sparks' most applicable stats come from his from 2014-15 ECHL season with the Orlando Solar Bears. There, Sparks posted a 21-7-3 record with a 2.34 goals against average and .936 save percentage.

Ultimately, DFS players should see Sparks as a shot in the dark and hope the Leafs take care of the Jets Wednesday; don't expect another shutout. But because of his low salary, Sparks is worth the investment.

W Frank Vatrano, Bruins (at Oilers)

DFS players should look to exploit the Oilers as they are the weakest target on the schedule.

Vatrano only has eight games of NHL experience but is already in a great position to succeed. Playing on the top line alongside Brad Marchand and Patrice Bergeron, Vatrano usually sees around 14 minutes of action.

Given his cheap price and top-line status, Vatrano is a great GPP play.

C Rickard Rakell, Ducks (vs. Lightning)

Like Vatrano, Rakell also plays with a notable top line duo. Skating beside Ryan Getzlaf and Corey Perry, Rakell scored five times in November, including a tally in the Ducks most recent game.

DFS players may wish to make an investment in Getzlaf and Perry, and hope for the trickle-down to benefit Rakell. While the season may have started poorly for Anaheim, that trickle-down effect is now showing signs of life.

In the month of November, Perry and Getzlaf combined for 29 points in 15 games helping Rakell to nine of points of his own. DFS players should hope this trend continues into December and roster Rakell.

D Thomas Hickey, Islanders (vs. Rangers)

Hickey has only played in six games this season due to leg and thumb injuries - and that limited action has kept his salary low.

With only two games under his belt since his return, Hickey has tallied an assist, fired four shots on goal, blocked two shots, and is a combined +2.

Like a true bargain, Hickey's appeal comes in his cheap salary. While many of the defensemen around his price point are bruisers incapable of providing any offensive upside, Hickey stands out as the best option.
