'Sandlot,' 'Mighty Ducks' star Michael Vitar charged with felony assault
Michael Vitar, best recognized from childhood acting roles such as Benny Rodriguez and Luiz Mendoza of "The Sandlot" and the "Mighty Ducks" movies, respectively, was arrested and charged with felony assault with a deadly weapon, according to Alex Stedman from Variety
A spokesperson for the Los Angeles Police Department confirmed Tuesday that Vitar and two other males were allegedly in an altercation with a 22-year-old man Oct. 31, who was said to be walking around the men's neighborhood on Halloween handing out candy to children.
The former child actor retired from the profession in 1997 and became a firefighter in Los Angeles, however the LAFD has put him on an administrative leave with pay as they await a resolution to the case.
Vitar was previously released on $30,000 bail. The date of his next court appearance is unknown.
