Here are the goaltender value rankings for Wednesday, January 6's five-game slate:
Top Options
| NAME | OPPONENT | VALUE |
|---|---|---|
| Semyon Varlamov (COL) | vs. STL | 9 |
| John Gibson (ANA) | vs. TOR | 8 |
| Scott Darling (CHI) | vs. PIT | 8 |
Varlamov plays for a team which has given its goalies 2.83 goals per game this season, which will give the Avs' netminders a shot at the win on most nights. It doesn't hurt that Varlamov is 6-2-2 in his lat 10 games with a 2.28 GAA and a superb .932 save percentage.

Best of the Rest
| NAME | OPPONENT | VALUE |
|---|---|---|
| Jacob Markstrom (VAN) | vs. CAR | 7 |
| Cory Schneider (NJ) | at MTL | 6 |
| Marc-Andre Fleury (PIT) | at CHI | 5 |
| Mike Condon (MTL) | vs. NJ | 5 |
| Jonathan Bernier (TOR) | at ANA | 5 |
Markstrom has been solid with Ryan Miller on the shelf, putting up a 2.25 GAA in his last 10 appearances (eight starts). The issue with the Canucks' goalies is goal support: Vancouver scores just 2.35 goals per game (25th in the NHL), which is why Markstrom has a 3-4-2 record in his last nine games. For once, he'll face a team with even lowering goal potential than his own: the Hurricanes.

Nothing to See Here
| NAME | OPPONENT | VALUE |
|---|---|---|
| Jake Allen (STL) | at COL | 3 |
| Eddie Lack (CAR) | at VAN | 2 |
Allen's stats aren't much worse on the road, but with the Blues' offense slumping, the Avalanche's sixth in scoring in the NHL and the very real home-ice advantage that Colorado has playing at altitude, Allen will have a tough time living up to his salary.
