Wednesday's Shooting Guard Value Rankings

John Geliebter / USA TODAY Sports

Here are the shooting guard value rankings for Wednesday, Janaury 6's 11-game slate:

Value Rankings
PG | SG | SF | PF | C

Top Options

NAME OPPONENT VALUE
Will Barton (DEN) at MIN 9
Monta Ellis (IND) at ORL 9
Rodney Hood (UTA) at SA 8

Barton and Ellis present the best value on what amounts to a very weak crop at shooting guard. Barton has proved that he can excel as a starter and off the bench; with significant injuries to Emmanuel Mudiay and Kenneth Faried, Barton's usage rate should give him an opportunity to wrack up a ton of points.

Ellis presents a great opportunity to return value at a cheaper price-point, and the veteran scorer has proven that his ceiling can be as high as almost anyone's when he gets hot from the floor.

Best of the Rest

NAME OPPONENT VALUE
DeMar DeRozan (TOR) at BKN 7
Dywane Wade (MIA) vs. NY 7
Wayne Ellington (BKN) vs. TOR 7
Andrew Wiggins (MIN) vs. DEN 6
Kentavious Caldwell-Pope (DET) at BOS 6
Arron Afflalo (NY) at MIA 6
Tyler Johnson (MIA) vs. NY 6
Garrett Temple (WAS) vs. CLE 6

DeRozan was a runner-up for December's Player of the Month for his conference and is almost assured of reaching the All-Star game for the second time in three years. He's averaging 23.5 points, five assists, 3.5 rebounds and a steal in the last six games. The Nets' aging and injured wings don't stand a chance.

NAME OPPONENT VALUE
Evan Turner (BOS) vs. DET 5
Eric Gordon (NO) vs. DAL 5
Gary Harris (DEN) at MIN 5
Devin Booker (PHX) vs. CHA 5
Courtney Lee (MEM) at OKC 5
Manu Ginobili (SA) vs. UTA 4
Victor Oladipo (ORL) vs. IND 4

None of these guys are the top offensive options on their respective teams; most aren't even top-two options when they're on the floor. Oladipo has been slumping and it's hard to predict who will have a good outing for the inconsistent Magic.

Nothing to See Here

NAME OPPONENT VALUE
Tyreke Evans (NO) vs. DAL 3
J.R. Smith (CLE) at WAS 3
J.J. Redick (LAC) at POR 3
Danny Green (SA) vs. UTA 2
Dion Waiters (OKC) vs. MEM 2

Evans has been a great fantasy producer as the Pelicans' primary ball-handler but knee tendinitis is threatening to keep him from Wednesday's game against Dallas. If he is able to play, his expected return will be high against a banged-up Mavericks' backcourt.
