Friday's Power Forward Value Rankings
Here are theScore's power forward value rankings for Friday's nine-game slate.
Value Rankings
PG | SG | SF | PF | C
Top Options
| Name | Opponent | Value |
|---|---|---|
| Josh Smith (HOU) | at OKC | 9 |
| Dirk Nowitzki (DAL) | vs. BKN | 8 |
| Chris Bosh (MIA) | at MIL | 7 |
| Amir Johnson (BOS) | vs. ORL | 7 |
| Julius Randle (LAL) | at LAC | 7 |
Despite coming off the bench and rarely shooting well, Smith has regularly filled the stat sheet in all categories since rejoining the Rockets. He should thrive in an up-tempo, high-scoring encounter with Oklahoma City.
After a game off to rest, Nowitzki should be fresh for what looks like a straightforward encounter with the Nets.
Despite rarely collecting double-doubles, Bosh is usually a safe bet to return four or five times his value.
Best of the Rest
| Name | Opponent | Value |
|---|---|---|
| Kyle O'Quinn (NY) | vs. PHX | 7 |
| Jon Leuer (PHX) | at NY | 7 |
| Marvin Williams (CHA) | at POR | 7 |
| Thaddeus Young (BKN) | at DAL | 6 |
| Tristan Thompson (CLE) | at DET | 6 |
| Kevin Love (CLE) | at DET | 6 |
| Ersan Ilyasova (DET) | vs. CLE | 6 |
| Serge Ibaka (OKC) | vs. HOU | 6 |
| Ed Davis (POR) | vs. CHA | 6 |
| Jabari Parker (MIL) | vs. MIA | 6 |
| Amar'e Stoudemire (MIA) | at MIL | 6 |
| Kristaps Porzingis (NY) | vs. PHX | 5 |
O'Quinn drew the start in place of the ill Kristaps Porzingis Thursday, and figures to do so again Friday if the rookie remains out.
Leuer is expected to return from a back injury on Friday, and comes at a nice discount after sitting out a handful of games.
Stoudemire is only worth considering if he receives another start in place of the injured Hassan Whiteside. Even then, he's not likely to see much beyond 20 minutes of action.
Nothing to See Here
| Name | Opponent | Value |
|---|---|---|
| Clint Capela (HOU) | at OKC | 4 |
| Derrick Favors (UTA) | vs. MIN | 4 |
| Trey Lyles (UTA) | vs. MIN | 4 |
Capela's workload is unreliable if he continues to come off the bench, while Favors is being eased in after missing several games with a back injury. He's played 20 and 21 minutes, respectively, in his last two contests, and there are far better options at his price. Conversely, Lyles won't see enough minutes to contribute with Favors back in the rotation.
