Counterattack: The Bulls Through Rose-Colored Glasses

Dennis Wierzbicki / USA TODAY Sports

Here are the top low-ownership plays for Monday's 10-game NBA slate:

PG Derrick Rose, Bulls (at Hornets)

Rose and the Bulls play their seventh consecutive road game, and they are without SG Jimmy Butler. This does not bode well for the team, but Rose could continue his stretch of high productivity. His rising salary combined with a deep selection at the position should scare enough people off for Rose to be avoided by many.

Rose has been within striking distance of a triple-double in three straight games. He's playing more than 30 minutes every night and despite a couple injury scares, he's been relatively healthy. Another top game will push his salary too high, but he's still a good play on Monday.

SG Bryce Dejean-Jones, Pelicans (at Timberwolves)

With Tyreke Evans potentially sidelined until the All-Star break, Dejean-Jones should remain in the starting lineup. He's coming off his worst game since his spike in minutes came in late January. He only scored a single point while adding a rebound and an assist. That's his floor, that's the risk.

Otherwise, he can score close to 20 on a good night and add around 10 rebounds. Even though the Timberwolves defend shooting guards well, his relatively low salary requires him to do less.

SF Robert Covington, 76ers (vs. Clippers)

The ebb and flow of Covington's game has been infuriating for fantasy owners of all ilks. In DFS, he'll string together three or four excellent games and watch his salary leap up only to crash and burn for a few games for his salary to, once again, balance out.

Covington has had three straight games where his numbers haven't quite lived up to his salary. One, against the Wizards, was an absolute bomb where he didn't make a single basket. With the salary starting to dip, he's not quite back into bargain territory, but he's a good flier in case he can shorten his streaks.

PF Julius Randle, Lakers (at Pacers)

Randle is listed as probable for Monday's game, but the sheer knowledge that he's being bothered by an ankle injury could steer DFS owners away. The salary is probably higher than most would like to pay for him, too, since he hasn't quite reached the steady floor his game often suggests he should have.

In a surprisingly competitive game against the Spurs, Randle scored 15 points and added 17 rebounds in one of his best fantasy performances on the season. These have occurred with more regularity since the beginning of January. Don't be hesitant.

C Pau Gasol, Bulls (at Hornets)

Gasol's DFS salary is almost always prohibitively expensive. He has the odd game where he flirts with cash game value and then surge for a massive game. Charlotte is middle of the pack in terms of defensive efficiency, but they limit big guys often.

Gasol carries risk, but his ceiling is 30 points and close to 20 rebounds. If he puts it all together - and with the Bulls' roster depleted he needs to - it will be a nice GPP selection.
