Bargain Plays: Brazilian Blur Barbosa Should Dash Through Suns' Defense

Here are the top sleeper picks for Wednesday's 12-game slate.

PG Leandro Barbosa, Warriors (at Suns)

Golden State won both of its previous meetings with Phoenix this season by margins of 25 and 19 points, respectively, and the injury-depleted Suns likely won't pose much of a threat again.

Barbosa usually sees around 15 minutes off the bench, but with significant garbage time potential in this game, a bigger role may be in the offing. A stat line similar to the Warriors' previous visit to the desert, in which Barbosa registered 21 points, three rebounds and two assists, may be too much to ask, but at a near-minimum price, the former Phoenix fan favorite should easily be able to return value.

C Ryan Hollins, Grizzlies (at Nets)

With Marc Gasol out indefinitely with a broken foot, the 7-foot Hollins appears to be the only legitimate backup center on the roster. Even if the team opts to go small and start nominal PF Zach Randolph at the position, Hollins should see a healthy share of work Wednesday.

Given that the journeyman has never topped per-game averages of 6.1 points or 2.8 rebounds in his career, expectations should be modest, but at the absolute minimum price on most DFS sites, Hollins should easily return value.

SG Markel Brown, Nets (vs. Grizzlies)

The second-year guard is seemingly back in the rotation, having played 24 and 20 minutes, respectively, over Brooklyn's last two games. In that brief stretch, he's averaging 17 points, 2.5 assists and 2.5 rebounds off the bench, more than enough to return significant value on a near-minimum DFS price.

Brown didn't see action in garbage time, either - the combined margin of victory in both of those games was six points, making the Oklahoma State product a safe bet to see action during what should be another competitive game against the injury-depleted Grizzlies.

SF Jonathon Simmons, Spurs (at Magic)

With a groin injury sidelining Manu Ginobili, Simmons has played at least 23 minutes off the bench in each of the Spurs' last three games, averaging nine points and 2.3 rebounds. He's a safe bet to return around four or five times his near-minimum price, but expectations should be tempered, as the undrafted rookie doesn't typically provide enough support in the secondary categories to complement his scoring.

Still, a reliable workload is seemingly assured, and Simmons should continue to be leaned on Wednesday with the veteran-laden Spurs on the second night of a back-to-back in Orlando.

PF Jason Smith, Magic (vs. Spurs)

Smith has usurped fellow stretch forwards Channing Frye and Andrew Nicholson from the rotation of late, exceeding his average of 15 minutes per game in three of the last four contests.

The 7-foot Smith is primarily a source of pick-and-pop jump shots, but also has been a consistent producer of blocks, with 10 in his last five games. At a near-minimum price, the veteran big man should provide double-digit scoring as well as a few blocks and rebounds, enough to return modest value.
