Here are the top NHL sleeper picks for Friday, March 4:

RW Devante Smith-Pelly, Devils (at Stars)

Smith-Pelly scored in his first game with the Devils on Thursday, after scoring in his final game with the Montreal Canadiens. He added an assist Thursday against the Nashville Predators, to give him three points in his past two games. He added five shots on goal and two blocked shots in those games.

He played over 18 minutes in his Devils debut, marking a season high by two minutes. He joined C Adam Henrique and LW Reid Boucher on the top line. He misses out on power-play time, but he'll have enough opportunities against the high-event style of the Stars at 5v5. Dallas leads the league in Corsi Events for and against at full stength.

C William Karlsson, Blue Jackets (vs. Oilers)

Karlsson's been held off the score sheet in back-to-back games since having a three-assist performance against the Devils. The good news is that he's played over 33 minutes combined over his past two games, centering the third line with wingers Brandon Saad and Matt Calvert. The better news is he'll be playing an Oilers team on the second half of a road back-to-back.

Despite Thursday's win over the Philadelphia Flyers, the Oilers have a Corsi For Percentage of just 45.6% over their past four road games. They've outscored teams 6-3 at 5v5, thanks largely to a lofty 97.4 save percentage.

D Brandon Davidson, Oilers (at Blue Jackets)

Davidson has averaged 23:37 of ice time over his past fives games, recording one goal and two assists over that stretch. He's totaled 10 shots on goal. He doesn't receive a significant amount of power-play time, but he does play on the Oilers' - significantly worse - second unit.

The Oilers have won three straight games, outscoring their opponents 9-2. The Blue Jackets have won two of their past three but they've been in much closer - and higher scoring - games, outscoring their opponents 11-6. There's room for offense in this one, and Davidson will log plenty of minutes.
