Bargain Plays - Two Cheap Raptors Should Be On Your Radar

Bill Streicher / USA TODAY Sports

SG/SF Norman Powell, Raptors (vs. Hawks)

Powell has exceeded 20 minutes of playing time in two of his last three games and has returned slight to decent value in DFS based on his bargain basement salary. Early indication suggests he should start again at small forward. If this holds, he will likely see 20 minutes of floor time yet again.

If he's replaced in the starting lineup, his value will take a huge hit. His upside isn't big, but he is resourceful. He'll get a few points - maybe a 3-pointer or two - and add some rebounds and a couple assists.

PG Marcelo Huertas, Lakers (vs. Cavaliers)

Huertas has played between 23 and 32 minutes in each of his last four games. Even though he's coming off the bench, he's finding ways to be productive and, as such, is helping DFS owners in GPP play.

His salary is slowly starting to climb, so the halcyon days of Huertas may soon be behind us, especially if the Lakers get healthy. Even against the Cavs, however, he should come close to 10 points and 10 assists while adding a few rebounds for good measure. This is assuming he continues to get expanded playing time. With Lou Williams still out, his time shouldn't drop just yet.

PF Jason Thompson, Raptors (vs. Hawks)

Thompson started and played 24 minutes against the Nets on Tuesday, scoring nine points while filling the stat sheet with five rebounds, two assists, two blocks and a steal. Despite the fact that Luis Scola projects to get the start Thursday, Thompson's upside is worth the gamble presuming he gets enough floor time off the bench.

While his fantasy returns will not consistently blow you away, he will be worth a look as long as his salary remains low. That might not last if the Raptors continue giving him minutes. For Thursday, he's a prime pick.
