Panthers' Remmers: 'I'll be kicking myself the rest of my life' for poor SB performance
Denver Broncos linebacker Von Miller was undoubtedly the star of Super Bowl 50, earning MVP honors for his otherworldly performance. At the other end of that was Carolina Panthers right tackle Mike Remmers, who was harassed by Miller for most of the Super Bowl.
Remmers recently had a chance to watch the game and analyze his performance, but was unable to get through all of it.
"It's unfortunate," he told The Charlotte Observer's Joseph Person on Tuesday. "I'll be kicking myself the rest of my life about that game. But it's behind me, and there's nothing I can do about it now except to learn and grow from it.
"I think that's exactly what I've done. I'm going to continue to grow from this experience and looking forward to starting next season."
Remmers' standout performances throughout the season leading up to the big game was one of the reasons the Panthers made it to the Super Bowl. While his struggles likely won't soon be forgotten, it's safe to say he won't be the last offensive lineman to be exploited by the elite talents of Miller.
The Panthers emphasized their confidence in Remmer on Tuesday, with the 27-year-old signing his restricted free-agent tender, which guarantees him $2.55 million for 2016.
"It was an amazing experience going to the Super Bowl, but you wish you'd remember it for winning it. So I'm a little upset that we didn't win it," Remmers said. "But it's all in the past now. The only thing I can do is learn from it and grow from it. I'm over it. Looking forward to next season."
