After arriving at Halas Hall last month, UCLA linebacker Myles Jack was instructed by a Chicago Bears official to put his backpack and duffel bag inside the replica of Walter Payton's locker.

Jack defied those orders, though, instead, laying his things on the floor.

"I have too much love, too much respect for the game," Jack told Patrick Finley of the Chicago Sun-Times. "That man, he's a legend."

Jack isn't from Chicago, but his mother has roots in the city, so he's well aware of the history of the Bears organization.

"To be a linebacker for the Chicago Bears. That would be an honor and a privilege," he said.

One of the most versatile and athletic players in the 2016 draft class, Jack won both the Pac-12's Offensive and Defensive Freshman of the Year awards in 2013. During his visit with the Bears, he learned how the team would use him at inside linebacker if they drafted him.

"It's always important just to see their vision of where they see you at, and see if you feel like you can jell with that," Jack said. "I definitely felt like, being an inside 'backer for the Chicago Bears - just saying that itself holds a lot of weight."
