Vikings add German WR Moritz Boehringer in 6th round
The Minnesota Vikings have selected wide receiver Moritz Boehringer out of Schwabisch Hall in the German Football League in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL Draft.
Minutes before the selection, Boehringer appeared on NFL Network and said he'd been a fan of the Vikings and Adrian Peterson because they'd inspired him to start playing football.
Scout Mike Mayock took it upon himself during the broadcast to tell Vikings head coach Mike Zimmer to call him about drafting Boehringer, which Zimmer promptly did.
Lesson learned for @MikeMayock -- Coach Zimmer is always listening.

Boehringer possesses outstanding athletic ability, but he'll likely need a year or two to develop and transition to the speed of the NFL level.
Moritz Boehringer Bio
Position: WR
School: Schwabisch Hall (German Football League)
Age: 22

- Measurables. Jumps off the board when you look at his height, weight, strength, and speed numbers together. Not many players of his size can move so well.
- Strong hands. Uses large hands to secure ball at the point of the catch and afterwards.
Weaknesses
- Competition experience. Played against competition projected to be lesser than Division-III. Will have to make major jump to NFL caliber competition.
- Raw. Has not been properly coached in German league. Better athlete than a football player at the moment. Taught himself to play by watching YouTube videos.
