Bengals using versatile Jake Fisher at center
The Cincinnati Bengals seem determined to get all of their highly-drafted offensive-line talent on the field.
The team has been giving Jake Fisher snaps at center during offseason workouts, as the prospect of the 2015 second-rounder out of Oregon being able to fill in at all five positions along the offensive line is now a reality.
"It's like last year," Fisher said, according to Geoff Hobson of the team's official website. "Whatever you can do to help the team."
Fisher's versatility has been highly touted, as he was recruited as a tight end in college. He was able to start at guard as an underclassman before moving to left tackle in his senior year.
In his rookie season, Fisher actually lined up as a fullback during the team's final two games, when Ryan Hewitt was injured.
The Bengals have a logjam at the tackle spots, with All-Pro Andrew Whitworth and 2015 first-round selection Cedric Ogbuehi occupying the starting jobs, but are clearly trying to utilize Fisher's broad array of talents in any way they can.
With Whitworth likely to move on after this season, Fisher's home in the future will likely be at right tackle - with Ogbuehi sliding over to the blind side. In the meantime, the surplus of O-line talent is certainly a nice problem for the Bengals to have.
