49ers' Colin Kaepernick: Still not cleared
Kaepernick (shoulder/knee/thumb) has yet to be cleared for football activity, CSN Bay Area reports.
Analysis:
That said, the QB has attended every session of the 49ers' voluntary workouts since they began on April 4, with Kaepernick having been able to work on his footwork and take "mental reps" in the process. At this stage, Kaepernick may not be medically cleared in time for the team's mandatory minicamp, which runs June 7-9, thus it's possible that the 49ers may not fully turn him loose until the start of training camp. Once his health is reestablished, Kaepernick is slated to compete with Blaine Gabbert for the 49ers' starting QB job.
