Peterson: 'I'm the best' cornerback in NFL

Patrick Peterson is one of a few elite cornerbacks competing for the right to be called the NFL's best, but the Arizona Cardinals defender doesn't need anyone else's approval to know the winner of that competition.

Peterson isn't usually as vocal as some of his counterparts, like Richard Sherman and Josh Norman, as he prefers to let his performance speak for itself.

"I do my talking between the white lines," Peterson told Lorenzo Reyes of USA TODAY Sports. "I show the world what my hard work does between the white lines, because that speaks more than words. And that speaks longer than words.

"I don't need to be boastful or brash. 'Oh, look at me.' I'm all about the team, I don't want to take that focus away from the team. At the end of the day, I know I'm the best. I know I can get in the face of the receiver and I mean much more to my team versus those guys to their team."

The 25-year-old admits "those guys" are very skilled in their own right, but says that he holds the edge over guys like Sherman, who "has one of the best safeties in the game (Earl Thomas) playing over the top."

He admires Norman's ability as "an up-and-coming guy" and doesn't mind his media talk.

"A guy who, in the media, likes to talk. But not in a bad way. That may just float his boat," Peterson said of Norman.

Peterson also gave some praise to Darrelle Revis, stating that he's "still a shutdown corner, in my opinion."

In his first five seasons, Peterson has been named a First-Team All-Pro three times without missing a start.
