New England Patriots defensive end Chris Long is involved with a group trying to bring a Major League Soccer franchise to St. Louis.
Long spent the first eight years of his career with the-then St. Louis Rams, before joining the Patriots in March.
"I've been told that I will have an update in a couple weeks," Long texted Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch last week. "I'm still very interested. Hopefully the dialogue will continue."
Hall of Fame defensive back and former Rams star Aeneas Williams is also involved with the project.
MLS currently holds 20 teams, rapidly expanding over the past five years, with New York City FC and Orlando City SC joining the league in 2015.
