Giants sign Hall to reported 1-year deal

Free-agent cornerback Leon Hall has signed with the New York Giants, the club announced Thursday.

Terms of the deal weren't disclosed, but a source told NFL Network's Ian Rapoport that it's a one-year contract worth up to $2 million.

The agreement was first reported by Mike Garafolo.

The Cincinnati Bengals were reportedly interested in bringing back the 31-year-old veteran, but Hall picked the Giants over the team he's spent his entire nine-year career with.

Adding Hall makes New York's cornerback position arguably one of the deepest in the league, with Janoris Jenkins, first-rounder Eli Apple, and Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie the other members of the unit.

Due to his age and skill set, the Giants will likely deploy Hall in the slot, allowing Jenkins and Rodgers-Cromartie to line up on the perimeter. His presence will also allow the club to slowly bring along Apple, a talented but unrefined prospect.
